Geoffrey Holton and Associates have been advocates and practitioners of sustainable design for over ten years. GHA has completed a number of projects which made careful use of recycled, renewable and salvaged materials.  These include the Berkeley Youth Alternatives propagation greenhouses and outdoor classroom, and the Fruitvale Avenue Homes in Oakland for East Bay Habitat. The latter received a 2004 Phoenix Award from the Environmental Protection Agency for community achievement in redevelopment of urban brownfield sites. Our staff includes three Certified Green Building Professionals.

Spectrum Fine Homes has been an established residential Design/Build/Interior Design firm for almost 20 years. Both owners, Susan & Robert Davis, have been Certified Green Building Professionals since 2004, and we have completed more than twenty projects having some aspect of Sustainable Design and Green Building included in them. 

Spectrum Fine Homes received the Best Green Remodel Award for one of the two homes showcased on the 2006 Build-It-Green Santa Clara County Home Tour, and Platinum and Gold Awards for Green projects entered in the NARI of San Jose 2008 META Competition.

Carmel Building & Design builds beautiful, high quality, durable homes. These qualities are essential to “green” building because they conserve resources, eliminate premature repairs, and create a healthy, enjoyable home.  The “green” features of one recent project include a rainwater catchment system, drought - tolerant landscaping, natural clay plaster, low-VOC finishes, Energy Star appliances, and high-quality windows.  Many earlier “standard” projects ranked high enough to be GreenPoint Rated. Carmel Building & Design is a Monterey Bay Area Certified Green Business, has a full-time Green Projects Coordinator, and nine of its staff members are Certified Green Building Professionals through Build It Green.

As a new company, we have just begun to supply our community with green building and lifestyle products.  Our staff of dedicated green professionals includes a LEED AP on staff, an experienced green materials specifier, and a Green Interior Designer on site.  Our business is affiliated with the USGBC-NCC.

Mary Cordaro is the president and Founder of H3Environmental, Corp. specializing in healthy bedroom products, resources for diagnosing and solving “sick building syndrome”, and education. She synthesizes the fields of Bau-Biologie, Building Science, and green building with an overlay of the low consumption, ecological lifestyle.

Cordaro has been working in the field of healthy, ecological building since 1989 having started by extensively researching to correct problems in her own home. She then decided to use this knowledge to help her clients, many of whom, like herself, are either sensitive to conventional building and interior materials, or concerned about the manufacturing, use and disposal of materials and their effect on human and planetary health.

Since 1996, our principal, Mari Strain, has assisted homeowners and architects alike to satisfy their desires for high-quality, environmentally-friendly, easy-maintenance wood floors.
